The World Changed into Sunday Afternoon (2019 Remaster)

by BEYONDS

/
  • Record/Vinyl + Digital Album

A classic in Japanese punk history, reissued on 10"vinyl in 2019.

In 1993, after the release of their first album, original member Daichi Takasugi left the band and was replaced by Yoshiro Okazaki, who formed PEALOUT after BEYONDS broke up. Immediately afterwards, the band played a two-man show with Nukey Pikes at Shibuya Quattro, followed by a tour of the USA, including a live performance at Gilman Street in San Francisco.
This album was recorded before the departure of the US tour, and was an ambitious work incorporating early US alternative styles, with the title track 'The World Changed into Sunday Afternoon', a major work that became a new innovation for BEYONDS.

However, BEYONDS disbanded in March 1994. This was just before the big breakthrough of the melodic Hardcore sound in Japan

However, BEYONDS disbanded in March 1994. This was just before the big breakthrough of the melodic Hardcore sound in Japan

Bringing a new style to the Japanese punk scene, BEYONDS stopped their ascent without seeing the subsequent global breakthrough of punk. However, the two albums they left behind still ring true today, more than 25 years later.
The influence left behind by BEYONDS in the 90s has been carried on in various forms ever since..
